All markets, all features – with virtual money. Test eToro as long as you like without risking a single euro. Switching to real money is possible anytime, but never required.
eToro is a multi-asset investment platform: you can buy real stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies, and use CFDs to trade indices, commodities and currencies – all in one account, via web or app. Founded in 2007, eToro now counts over 35 million registered users, making it one of the largest investment platforms in the world.
eToro became famous for social trading: you can see how other investors trade, discuss their strategies – and use CopyTrader™ to automatically replicate the portfolios of experienced investors. In short: eToro makes investing accessible, even if you're not a finance professional.
Pick experienced investors, check their return history and risk score – and copy their portfolio automatically at no extra cost. Every trade is replicated proportionally in your account. You stay in control and can stop copying at any time.
You buy real stocks and ETFs on eToro without order commission – attractive even for small amounts. Thanks to fractional shares, you can invest in Apple, Amazon & co. with just a few euros instead of saving up for a full share.
Stocks from 20 exchanges, ETFs, 100+ cryptocurrencies, plus indices, commodities and currencies: with eToro you need no second broker and no separate crypto exchange. The platform is regulated by CySEC (EU), FCA (UK) and ASIC (Australia), among others.
Your eToro account is denominated in USD. Deposits in euros incur a conversion fee, and withdrawals cost a flat $5 (minimum withdrawal $30).
The trick: deposit and withdraw less often but in larger amounts – then the fixed costs barely matter. Manageable for active long-term investors, less ideal for tiny amounts with frequent withdrawals.
Instead of order fees, eToro earns from spreads – the difference between buy and sell price. For crypto there's a transparent 1% fee per buy/sell.
Important: leveraged positions and short trades run as CFDs – complex products where a high share of retail investors lose money. If you just want to buy stocks and ETFs, you can ignore CFDs entirely.
Is eToro legitimate?
Yes. eToro has been on the market since 2007 and is regulated by CySEC (EU), the UK's FCA and Australia's ASIC, among others. Client funds are held separately from company assets; within the EU, statutory deposit protection applies according to the current rules.
What fees apply?
Stocks and ETFs: 0% commission (spreads apply). Crypto: 1% per buy/sell. On top of that: $5 per withdrawal, a currency conversion fee on euro deposits, and a small inactivity fee after 12 months without login.
What exactly is copy trading?
You pick an investor, set an amount – and eToro automatically replicates their portfolio proportionally. When they buy a stock, your account buys too. You can pause, adjust or exit completely at any time. Extra cost: none.
What is the minimum deposit?
Depending on your country, from around $50 for the first deposit. After that you can invest smaller amounts – thanks to fractional shares from about $10 per position.
Is there a free demo account?
Yes – with $100,000 in virtual funds, real prices and all features. No time limit and no obligation to ever deposit real money.
How are taxes handled?
eToro does not automatically withhold local capital gains taxes in most countries. You need to declare profits in your own tax return; eToro provides an annual account statement for this. When in doubt, ask a tax advisor.
